    Default Gear cable help please.

    Car is 1.9cdti z19dt 120bhp.

On the way from work, gear starts coming out of 2nd gear at times and after about 5miles, gear was no longer selecting. Got out to investigate and this was what I found. Gear cable has broken.

Can someone explain whether it is just a case of buying new cable and fitting? Is there any how2 for this or does anyone know how to go about it please? Thanks.

Do you know if it is the same as the one on the Z19DTH 150bhp engine?

Thanks. Will call factors tomorrow to find out. You got any tips or guide on fitting this? Cheers

Patience and a lot of swearing.

Take the old cables out and then try and get the threads on the new cables set roughly the same. Will save the amount of adjustment

a second set of hands to pull the cables inside the car helps.

if your doing it at home on axle stands you may find it a but awkward.
But just get it up as high as you can give yaself best chance

Motor factors do not sell and referred to dealer but dealer wants £111 for the gear selection cable. Anyone know if I can get it cheaper?

Part number is 55355351 EQ 41R.

    Thanks

Here's a link to a How 2 that I followed when connecting new cables up.
