Default Y30DT Cambelt / Water pump change

    Evening all,

I will be doing my cambelt at the weekend and i need as much info as possible. e.g. pictures/guides etc.

I have read through all the posts and not really had any that have given me the best confidence

Is the water pump hard to do? Can it be done after the cambelt or will it have to be done whilst all that is off?

    I have 3.0 v6 cdti 04 sri 90,000 miles

    Many thanks

@Critch is your man on this one. He's been giving me some advice on my coolant leak. Think i'm just going to go for a water pump change and get the belt done at the same time.

You don't need the waterpump doing - it's driven from the crankshaft through a set of gears and not a belt, so unless it's causing you a problem you don't need to go near it mate. You'd have to dismantle half the engine to get to it...

As above mate no need for water pump to be done unless your having problems?

looking at about 5 hours to fit a water pump.

Cambelt on these is really easy to do.
    only fuel pump to cams.

    pretty quick job aswel.

theirs a few pics of my belt in the v6 info page.
not the best photos but gives you an idea.

    Thanks for your speedy replies,

I was getting worried that the job was going to be more than I thought. I am actually looking forward to doing my timing belt lol, (sad!)

The timing belt kit that I ordered is a genuine Vauxhall kit and it has come with the tensioner and one roller thing. Will I need another roller?

    Thanks!

I would change both idlers and tensioner personally.

not worth the risk of not doing it.
