Upgraded headlight bulbs?!

Hi all



So I am looking at upgrading my headlight bulbs, following a call to my insurance company it won't be HID as an aftermarket kit would invalidate my insurance as it's not road legal. It might pass an MOT but if I dazzle someone and it causes an accident I'm stuffed. Not worth the risk.

So, I'm now looking at the upgraded bulbs. I'm sure this has been discussed before so apologies for another post but I can't seem to find the exact detail I need.

I am looking at the Philips Xtreme H7 bulbs - does anyone have experience of these, or what is the acknowledged best option?

I had osram night breakers before my HIDs and they did make a difference imo.

i have xenon ring ultima in at the moment and has made a difference from standard.

Make sure you raise your headlights also

Would I be right in saying that if the vehicle passed an mot with hids in the beam pattern and beam elevation would have been checked and passed so dazzling oncoming traffic wouldn't be an issue,just a thought

i had xenon ring ultima & raised headlights on my old vec which made a massive difference

I've got the Ring Ultima's in my high beam. I have to admit prefering the Osram NBs as the Ultima's beam pattern isn't so well spread out as it was with the NBs. i.e. it's more pencil like than fanned out.

No idea if the same applies to dipped as I only had Osram NBs fitted prior to the HIDs.

OP, who is your insurer who is living in the dark ages?

I also have the Ring Xenon's. They are better, also upgraded the 501's to a white but if you can get brighter I would try and get some LED sidelights if possible unless anyone else can recommend any other sidelights.

+1 for the Ring xenon bulbs, I also tried the osram nightbreakers but the Ring bulbs are far better in my opinion. Also did the height adjustment which further improved things
