Should I remove cone air filter and what's your highest mileage on a full tank?

The first thing I bought my (1.8 vvt sri estate) car was a red cone filter back in may last year, at the weekend I probably broke my record without filling up, 382 miles.

Last week i had a hirer car (1.6 tdi vw passat estate) and did over 500 miles and still had 1/4 of a tank. So im thinking is it really worth the extra 2bhp or whatever it is and abit more noise?

Also whats your highest mileage on a full tank?

You have a 1.8 petrol Estate - no amount of modding or tuning will ever get it close to what a diesel can do mate. My mapped 1.9 150 hatchback got over 700 miles to the tank several times...

Should of got a diesel then lol. Does a cone make any difference to fuel?

my old 1.8XE Vectra C saloon used to get 420 to the tank and that was with a faulty thermostat. The cone is not going to make much difference on your engine

If anything you may lose a few horses as its taking in warmer air from the engine bay too instead of cold air direct from outside. As you don't have an undertray it probably won't effect you as much as it does diesels...
