I’m going to Milton Keynes a 260 miles trip and was just wondering if now’s a good time to put a cleaning solution in my cdti 150 engine/fuel system redx or similar what do you use?
Thanks in advance

I used redX just after servicing my car and it worked a charm, my faults realted to the egr are gone aswell as it rides nicer now. Still gonna clean the EGR but at least its not in the safe mode all the time![]()
I prefer millers tbh, but any fuel system cleaner will do... just sling a full bottle of redex in a full tank of fuel.
Btw... if your egr is not blanked, then i personally would unplug it before starting the car & do the journey with the egr unplugged... this will also help clean the inlet manifold.
If you are worried about doing it, i can confirm i laways drove my cdti 150 with the egr unplugged & only ever plugged it back in for the mot.
I thought its half a bottle of redex? I tried unplugging mine but i get the error and my car goes into safe mode? (sorry for threadjacking)
I put about 100ml of two stroke ( low ash ) oil in a tank, and I only use v power diesel, had car 4 months now and its stopped smoking when I accelerate and runs so much smoother.
What about Forte? Ain't redex pap?...
I would never use any additives unless they are used fro new, I've seen them cause so many problems.
Cataclean.
I've used it in various cars and always seen a positive result![]()
When used on 'older' engines/systems there's always a chance that cleaning products can/do dislodge crud and push it through other vital systems. For example, blocking injectors.
I suppose you take your chances with any product in that respect.
I have the same things with computers, the moment you clear out the dust, something will break.![]()
