    Default Clutch / Gearbox noise / rattle CDTi 150

    Noticed recently that when in neutral and relase the clutch, just before the top of the pedal travel I have a nasty rubbing/rattling noise happening.

    I'm guessing this is clutch related, and advice or ideas?
    2007 1.9 CDTi 150bhp

    It drives fine and runs idles fine in neutral but is only on this one point on the clutch pedal.

    I have this and have had it for ages. I don't think its DMF related. I don't have the the characteristic metallic knocking sound in neutral or with clutch in like I had before I got the DMF/clutch done. No vibration under load either.

    I think I know exactly what you mean though. On mine I always start with clutch pedal down but when I lift off slowly (in neutral), through biting point the revs drop very very slightly momentarily and it makes a weird "rubbing" sound.

    After I had the DMF/clutch done the car was amazing but then I thought not long after the performance of the clutch was not as good. I took the car back to the garage twice over a period of about 6 months and told them I wasn't happy but both times they convinced me there was nothing wrong. Invoice said LUK and sachs parts. I've tried pressure bleeding which didn't make any difference really.

    Sometimes the clutch feels better than it does other days. I get quite a bit of vibration through the pedal when changing gear under load at around 2k revs as well. Might be a dodgy slave cylinder or maybe the master is on its way out. A little bit of vibration through the pedal is normal though on DMFs as the slave sits around the gearbox input shaft and has been present on all diesels I've driven.

    I don't know if there is a problem with my clutch, but I've lived with it for 2 years or so now since having the DMF and clutch done. It annoys me some days, other days it's fine.

    Confrimed as flywheel as expected really, still drives fine. Bit supprised a sub 40k car would have this problem really.

    I know a lot of 150,000 mile cdti 150's, as regular customers, with no flywheel DMF problems at all.

    If you have had the car from new and can validate the 38,000 miles then its unusual imho,
    if not, just hope it was driven by a nun and not a 18 year old with a diving boot attached to his right foot

    Bought from a member off here 5 weeks ago with full service history but with a towbar! Sods law and all that, perhaps they had a lot of caravan holidays with a heavy caravan!
