vvt - remove airbox how to?

Hi all



Is there a 'how to' on taking the airbox out on the vvt? I can't seem to find one I need to remove it to replace my headlight bulb.

Don't know about a How2, but it's very easy to do.

All you need to disconnect is the electrical connector for the MAF, and also the pipe from the MAF to the engine (Big hose clip, 7mm socket I think). The clips holding the wiring loom to the side of the airbox should just pull upwards and slide out of their slots. No need to cut the tywraps. After that it's just a case of lifting the complete airbox/MAF assembly up and out of the car. If you start lifting at the rear of the airbox, it should disengage from it's rubber mounts no problem. Just need a wee shimmy to waggle it loose from the intake pipe at the front end after that. Refitting is just a reversal of instructions, making sure the airbox is correctly located into the air intake pipe and it's rubber mounts.

Just as quick and easy to partially remove the bumper.

Move the airbox by what puppet says,i just done mine a few weeks ago-not too bad a job,and when you have the airbox off you can give it a good clean out.The changing of the headlight bulbs is then quite easy----Dave

Takes 2 mins to take the airbox out. Look at my how to for the HID's to see the space you get with it removed and the pipes.

Thanks guys, is it seriously easier to remove the bumper?! I assume this would be to fully remove the headlight... would they then need alignment?

Just pop the airbox out, gives more than enough room to change the bulb. Had mine out at the weekend to change a sidelight bulb, takes 2 minutes to do.

The last pic in the guide is basically showing the space on the drivers side where the airbox usually sits.

Sorry, thought it looked better than that.

The pipe at the bottom is the cold air feed that comes from the grill.

Its a bit fiddly getting it off and back on but nothing a bit of patience can't sort.

The only other pipe is at the top and a doddle to remove and refit.
