    Default Second gear boost issues..

    Evening folks,

    Car is 1.9cdti 150 facelift

Changed the battery the otherday as it decided it didn't like me after i changed the EGR. After 4-5 days i now have a very strange boost issue ONLY in second gear...

In 2nd from 1800rpm (turbo spool) to around 2500rpm it is fine, anymore after that and there seems to be what can only be described as a HUGE flat spot between that and 3500rpm.

Its got me confused.. but there defiently is a huge power loss, almost as in it cuts boost off completly after 2500rpm but only in second.

    Any help would be grand!!!

Check the swirl flaps aren't in the closed position. They should sit at the 10 o'clock position when opened and the swirl bar should be attached.

i cleaned the boost sensor the other day like you said, was indeed caked in gunkk.. very slight improvement but still a HUUGEEE flat spot!!

It really is a very wierd thing.. however the other morning when first started for the first couple of minutes it was running like it had no power, just would not boost. We are talking about the first 2 minutes or so of running however, and when done around 200meters it went back to its normal, but laggy second gear life.

When puliing from low down in second you feel the turbo kick at 2kish.. does this in every gear, but then it hesistates and engine noise slightly changes and just disappears power wise.

    HELPP!!

Swirl flaps are open and seem to function fine then. However you do have slight oil sweat on what looks like the third (master) flap. Could be a very early sign the flaps are starting to wear at their bearings. There is also alot of soot there too.

Indeed would appear so. However the car has done just 130,000 so can't expect a perfect looking header. Is the swirl flaps an easy change?

Could this be the cause of a very strange "flat spot" do you believe? I'm personally being pushed mentally towards a sensor of some sort as it is pefectly fine it ever other gear pretty much :\
