Default Non Vectra problem. Ford Ka

Dont really know where to post this thread, or if anyone on here can help. My daughter has a Ford Ka, and the heater doesn't work! All the radiator hoses are getting to the right temperature and the radiator, but it just blows cold air. I thought the controls may have stuck, but it seems to be operated electrically rather than by the old cable method. Poor girls freezing, can anybody help with any ideas?

It sounds as if the flaps that control the air flow have stuck (iirc its a common problem on F*rds of that era).

From memory, if you drop the panel under the passenger side shelf you can get to the blower fan assembly - perhaps you may get a clue as to what is/is not happening?

No, the airflow is fine. The control for that still works, sending air up or down, but the temp always stays cold. The flow is mechanically controlled by cables and thats all ok, but looking under the dash, the temp seems to be controlled electronically. My other thought was a blocked heater matrix (I hope not, looks a pig to get at!)

    Thanks anyway

Might be worth looking at a Haynes manual if you can.

I wonder if you can bypass the electric valve to see if it does get warm? Or loosen the pipes each side of the matrix to see if water is flowing?

should be under the bonnet on the scuttle panel , you will see the hoses going into it , you will need to remove the plastic grille brlow the screen to get access , and it will look like this
