    Default glow plugs

    i went to start the car this morning and the glow light plus took a while to go out about 3 times longer than normal now the engine managment light at the bottom of the dash wont go out if my glow plugs need replacing would this light stay on

    the glow plugs do but not the engine management light just drove 50 mile and the car is running fine

    Could be the glow plug relay mate as soon as the cars warm the glow plug relay should de-erergise, do you have a multimeter? If so then measure the resistance of each glow plug to the engine block they should be approx 2-5 ohms if the are then they are ok.

    once the car is warmed up and the glowplug light isnt on the engine light isnt on it was only starting from cold this morning

    thanks for the replys i think i will change the plugs only cheap so not to bad compared to the money that has been spent lol

    Be careful a few have snapped theirs and then it is probably a head off job plenty of wd and let it soak for a bit.

    i will get the local garage to do them its easier

    plus hes a mate so prices are not to bad

    Yes be careful with glow plugs, i snapped 2 of mine. Car still starts fine, i have the EML light on for about 5 mins (if that) on first cold start up and then goes out. As the car starts ok it's not an issue at the moment so will save money and see what a garage says, i'm expecting the worst that the head needs to come off so will save and deal with it at a later date.
