Thread: Why so many?

    Default Why so many?

Right then, why is there so many tuning boxes from a certain company suddenly appearing for sale? The sceptic in me is thinking maybe, 'that's a cheap form of advertising', but the realist in me is thinking, 'people have tried these now and can't live with it on a daily basis'.

Not trying to start anything here, it's just an observation.

I have a different tuning box on my car and it is currently off the car as I believe it pushes out way too much power for this time of the year. My car is however a 1.9 and with a tuning box fitted it is an animal. I'm sure the V6 CDTi's have a much smoother power delivery, therefore easier to drive in this weather.

Anybody else took their tuning box off for the winter? Or indeed turned it down a few turns or a profile or two?

Why the comment on a 'certain tuning company' then if it relates to all tuning boxes?

How about just "Anyone remove their tuning boxes over winter?"

mine hasn't had a box on a for LONG time but i can see where you are coming drom Alex, driving with one it this weather wouldn't be much fun.

okay once you're moving, but trying to come off the line at traffic lights with any amount of speed will be difficult.

as for the amount on sale, i can't comment.

hoping to get mine remapped before the irmscher trip though!

I would love a box that only came on-line in the later half of second gear or better still third gear. Mind you the latest generation of boxes recognises the style of driving and instantly raises or lowers the profile to suit. Maybe these are the way forward? Failing that it's obviously a remap.

Mines still off for the same reason as you Alex & also due to the fact that the traffic is terrible now so no point anyway.

When the conditions improve mine will be straight back on.

It's actually quite a refreshing drive in standard form.

I didn't want to mention any company names dude. And as you see I haven't.

I think my box is terriffic, can't fault it and that is without tinkering yet. If it wasn't for the fact that I have been offered a remap I would leave my box on and it has nothing to do with advertising as previously suggested. It delivers power in just the right place and at the right time. With a remap what do I do with a £200 box. Unfortunatly I can't afford to have it sit in a box if I can't use it, so whay not use the money on another mod. why everyone else has decided to sell is beyond me but most have given reasons, remap, sold car etc etc

Incidently, my box is still fitted and working great because we don't have any snow. It will stay connected until the remap is completedd and I may if it is not sold even play with it then.

I took my box off at the beginning of the winter due to having no bl00dy traction . Once it was off the car i remembered how smooth the car was without the box on, the wife preferred it without, end of story
