Default Cambelt change - Use VX dealer or independent?

    As the title says really.

I've got a 2006 1.8VVT Design - on 66K miles. Thinking I should get it done. Is it a job better suited to a Vauxhall dealer or fairly straight forward for an independent to do.

    Default

if you know a good independent, and he is cheaper and uses good parts (vauxhall parts) then go for it. Ideally you should phone around and get quotes, sometimes vauxhall dealers do a good deal for timing belt replacement but not always.

Also make sure whoever you choose is ok with your engine.... more aimed at us in V6 corner.... even many Vx/MF garages haven't got a clue on the V6 engines.

That price doesn't include the price of a replacement water pump or auxiliary belt. Just mine done at vauxhall all in for £366

It's a VVT - doesn't need the water pump doing with the cam belt

VVt's water pump runs off the aux belt, not the timing belt so changing it is not as important. The annoying part about the VX fixed prices is that they take no account of which engine it is. Astra and Zafia is £50 cheaper than Vectra, even though they all have the same engine range as the Vec, below 2.0lt.
