Na, get her a Puma if you want that sort of thing.
if you've got kids, forget it.. the seats in the back are terrible..
and the early 1400's had serious engine problems, most will be sorted by now, but check for any evidence of recent engine work.. you want a cast iron proof of cambelts every 40,000 miles and a full service history as most of these cars only get done when there's a fault..
If her heart is set on one, buy the very best you can find of a very late car.. avoid early cars like the plague..
Have to say the Ford Puma was a far superior car than the MK1 Tigra. Wife had one until we found out she was pregnant and needed a more pratical car.
Tigra is very small inside, Puma is a proper 4 seater (even I've sat in the back and I'm 6'8") with a huge boot.
Puma has bomb proof engineering and the parts are cheap (being fiesta based). If buying one go for either the 1.6 or 1.7 and keep away from the 1.4 (underpowered) make sure it has heated front screen, electric mirrors, AC as not all had these. The last year of production was 2001 so anything registered after a 51 plate has been sat on an airfield before being registered. If you can find one a Racing Puma is the best to go for, but pricy. If you want any further information visits www.pumapeople.co.uk this forum is great, just like here.
We sold an immaculate 2001 Y with 20k on the clock for £4.5k dealer prices are about £1k more.
Hope that helps
