Default misfire on 1 and 4 after water pump change

Back to square 1 with this and have posted before.
As title, misfire on 1 and 4 around 3000rpm on Z22YH.
Changed coil, changed plugs, changed fuel pump, changed fuel pressure reg.
Not left with many options really.
This only started after the pump changed and the timing chain did not get removed.
Not had compression test done as still got no tester.
    What else is there?

Anyone any ideas on where to start with this?
Seems very starnge how this was not there on engine rebuild ran fine for more than 1000 miles and then happens after water pump change.

Yes, sorry. U may not have read other posts.
EML light everytime i try to push it past 3000rpm.
All common faults changed (plugs, pack, pump, FPR).
EML goes after a few days if I drive under 3000.
Only options left in Haynes is leak, blocked cat and low cylinder compression.
Car feels like it is missing umph when getting up to 3000.

    near 140000.
I don't have codes as he only gave me a desription. twice.
All parts were new apart from FPR.
This was second hand and sent to me by someone who had the same problem but did not clear when they put new. Theirs was fuel pump.
It works and does start after 2 turns which is better than my recall type. Also looks newer than my 3 year old one.
How do I check the cat.
He did remove the manifold to change the pump and the gasket had only done about 1000 miles.

In the morning when cold I can see the exhaust fumes from the car and they seem fine. Disappear when it warms up.
This only happens when under load. Revs fine when standing. Gonna look into the cat though as this was the only thing disturbed

Well I have just got back from a short drive, enough to heat the engine nicely.
I had the window down and you could hear a faint whine when accelarating.
I got back, popped the hood with engine still running and was met with heat from the back end of engine bay that can only be described as walking into a sauna.
I put my head around the exhaust manifold and it was hot as hell. I moved toward the fan and it was going and felt nice and cool around inlet.
Now it seems very hot and I would assume the heat should travel out the exhaust.
Granted the engine will be hot but the bay seemed more than normal.
Does that sound right or should it be like walking into a house if you know what i mean?
