Sambecky1989 it's plug n play in so much as when you remove(de-solder) the old smd you replace it by soldering your chosen colour smd in it's place and you're good to go. so long as you've soldered it the right way round
Thanks for that mate. I just need to work out what colour I want to go for, then away I go with it, I'm leaning towards white, but not certain yet.

I've just done my preface auto and they are plcc2's. I've found it easier to remove the board from inside the base plate and leave the ribbon cable connected down inside as I could'nt reach to unplug it.

Is it just me, or those PLCC-2 (3528) white ones are quite brighter then the original amber one, or at least the one I got .
According to theirs data sheet, white are 2000mcd, and the amber colored are about 1000-1300 mcd.
Can someone tell me where I can find lower mcd rated ones, please?

Hello guys.
I want to do the LED conversion.
What's the type of the 14 side mounted LEDs?
What type are the yellow LEDs that light the icons? 3528?
Also I have 2 displays. The LEDs there have 4 mounting points. Are they bi colored? What types are they?
Thanks in advance.... Martin

Nice thread revival........
Side ones - just use plcc2
Displays are plcc4 in sure, but u can use plcc2 as long as you use the top 2 pads.
Or you can use 0805's
