Default Interior alarm started going off

    Guys,
My interior siren has just started going off for no reason. Went off twice so just reset it and the third time it went off I turned my headlight switch back to auto as thats all I did different on the way home and so far its not gone off. Seems very strange if that was the problem. The actual car horn does not sound(yes it does work) so the assumption is that its not been triggered, so could this be the resulting internally failing backup batteries?

Used to get similar problems on Omega and Senator when the power sounder battery pack faulted or died, so you might well be spot on with your guess.

The horn will not sound unless the rear siren has been disconnected. The Siren is the only thing that is meant to sound when the alarm goes off. Built into the siren is a rechargeable battery which if failing can set the alarm off. If it persists then disconnect the siren and see if the alarm goes off then, if it does not go off then replace the siren and battery pack (all one item). If it continues to go off (will use car horn) then your issue is something else and you will need tech 2 to read the alarm codes to find out what is triggering it

If so can the batteries be changed?

Nobody found a way to get them open? Is there any issue with just leaving it out the car as the main horn would still work I guess, is it monitored at all?
If it is the batteries will it keep going off all the time or just three times like it just done.

There was a few who cut the casing open and replaced the pair of button cells... no idea how they got on long term though as not too long after I was 'overseas' for a while, but maybe you're in a prime position to see if such a refurb works on the Vectra system.

If you leave it out the car (I have for the last 3 months) but it will show a fault up when you start the car on the GUID (center console screen) which once you press the main dial on the HU will clear it until you start the car again. not sure how much a new siren/battery is at the dealers but you can take a risk and get one off ebay

Forgot to mention in my first post, all the indicators were flashing when the siren was sounding. Is that normal with failing internal batteries? If it is an alarm issue can the alarm system be interigated with op-com to find out the problem.

Quite possible the ATWS is seeing the failing voltage from the powersounder as an 'attack' and thus triggering the warning... it may well be triggering the full system but if the powersounder has died you won't be hearing a lot.

I would suggest the most a computer based application (CBA) could do would be detail any fault code generated.

(Computer Based Application (CBA) - the polite way of saying anything such as Tech II, VauxCom, OpCom or any other application, without infringing the rules regarding naughty software)
