Help in Oxfordshire.

After a bit of help guys just been driving normally. Car is a 08 1.9 cdti vectra estate. Had the spanner and car light come on. Looked in manual says few possible causes and should take to garage. Looked on here n google and looks like a tech 2 is quickest way to sort t. But I don't really wanna pay 50 quid at garage to get tech 2 diagnostic. So I have 2questions

1) isit safe to continue driving
2) is there anyone around who coul throw it on tech two for me to help me find the problem. Sooner rather than later as I need the car for work.

Bit more info the light stays on constant but does not flash. Could this be glow plugs? Or water in diesel filter??

Car also seems to be in limp mode and has no real go in it. Anyone any idea what it could be? an expensive fix? or a quick fix at the garage?

Try unplugging the EGR valve mate. Back of the engine, right hand side bolted to the inlet manifold...
