noise in bell housing help !!

Hope someone can shine a light on this one. Had dmf done 4 months ago, car has been fine uptill last few days. When I turn the ignition there is a rattle noise coming from the bell housing also when I switch car off. On tickover the car is quiet and driving is the same, no rattle when I press clutch or release it. The noise is only there on start up and stop. Thanks in advance

If I were you I'd have it checked, if it's gearbox you shouldn't be driving it. It happenned to me when I had a vectra b, I had rattling noises occasionally, not at start up or switch off and the car drove ok, but the noise was coming from gearbox and it turned out bits of cogs broke off the gearbox and were floating about creating the rattle, had to have a new gearbox.
Hopefully yours isn't that serious but best to have it looked at.

TBH sounds like it could be the DMF again? That's when they can make a noise on start up and shut down , when they are starting to go.
However could just be something loose in there ? Did you get it done by a garage ? i.e. they must have given some kind of warranty/guarantee ?
Either way the only way to be sure, is remove the gearbox again :-(

Dmf was done at a garage in which the place I purchased the car from used. They don't use the garage no more as they had a big fall out over cars coming back which supposed to have been repaired and hadn't. So don't really fancy taking my car to the garage only for them to blame it on something else and I end up with a big repair bill. so was hoping not for it to be the flywheel again. So it looks like I am going to have to pay out again to get the car repaired...thanks anyways guys
