Default under 1/4 tank and long left bend = cutting out

So strange one the last two nights the car has cut out on me . Car runs spot on no smoke rattles or bangs but the last two nights coming home the car has cut out on me going round a long sweeping left hand bend. Coincidence this has happened under half tank ? More like 1/6 of a tank left

Puzzled as sure these modern cars have swirl pots to stop this. Car is a 07 cdti 150

I can confirm it has happened in a 2006 2.8T too. I was going from the A329(M) onto the M4, there's a big 270-degree, tight lefthander and I was also on less than 1/4 tank. Hit the straight at the bottom of the sliproad, engine just had no power and I was slowing down with my foot hard to the floor. Started to pull onto the hard-shoulder when it sprung back into life, with my foot flat on the floor, and took off like a scalded hare.

Annoying at the time, but it's only happened once in 7000 miles. I just assumed the fuel pick-up is on the left-side of the tank.
