    Default New printer advice

I need a new printer, after a bit of advice on what to go for. I don't print masses, most of my printing are word docs, would like the scanner facility built in and ideally wifi so I can print from my ipad. What do people recommend? I don't mind paying extra for the printer, if it'll save me money in ink. Thanks

I bought one of these at xmas.

Great little all in one for the home and the replacement ink cartridges are really reasonable as well.

And for an extra tenner it has a wi-fi big brother although I personally cannot vouch for the wi-fi model as I haven't got one LOL.

    I'd go for a small Epson All-In-One.

Thesedays price isn't a huge concern as you can get good models quite cheap. Single inks helps - 4 cartridges rather than a multi and a black - only change what you need to.

You can get standalone wifi printers now but the can get a little complicated if you're not too hot with computers.

Most current printers will support AirPrint, which will enable printing from tablets, etc but check the specs.

    Just a couple of tips.
If you intend to use the scanner as a copier, then get one which will let you select for example 5 copies via the menu, rather than just a single copy every time.
Get an epsom printer, the inks (non genuine) are so widely available worldwide that you will find very quickly that you have never been able to buy such low cost cartridges before

i used to work for a cartridge warehouse firm a good while back and to be honest, i would buy a brother printer, we used to supply the non original cartridges that worked perfectly fine, the brother company is based near where i live and they were happy about the cartridges that were used in their machines even, epson tend to be be expensive and usually non refillable cartridges, HP printers and crap imo, and the block cartridges tend to dry up over time if not used for a while, in all honesty your best bet is a brother, you don`t have to buy original cartridges, and they never dry out, (i still have my cartridges in from last year and only use occasionally, just do a clean every month say) you can get them from cartridge world or similar, you can get ones with a scanner on top like the one i have which is DCP-197C, they do they next one or two up which would be the wireless one, and even even if you don`t use the non original cartridges brother will not void your warranty if it breaks, like most other printer companies do.
pm me if you have any other questions mate

Thanks everyone. Been out and bought a Epson XP-405 this morning, would have gone for the one in the link posted earlier but it was out of stock. So far it's brilliant, loads better than our old R300m. Printing off the iPad is a big bonus
