    Default Fuel leak cdti 150

Hi all, had a rant about this yesterday and thought it was sorted, but apparently not!

Noticed a smell of diesel and some smoke coming from the back, turned out the fuel filter housing was leaking and the diesel was burning off the exhaust. Stripped it down, cleaned it up and it seemed ok, but it has started leaking again, albeit slower.

I'm thinking replace the housing. Any other thoughts? Has anyone else had this? Completely random. I've not been near it!

fuel filter is a pig to tighten mate, you need a vice and a tool like an oil filter removal tool in order to tighten it properly.

Seal is good. Checked it yesterday. Maybe I just need it horsed up some more! Due a filter change shortly so I'll maybe bring this forward before I get a housing, try a new seal. I only tightened on the car, so maybe I'll pull it out and stick it in the vice too. Cheers!

Sure it's not leaking out of the drain tap on the bottom?

You must cover the new seal in diesel to form a seal. It needs to be torqued to 25 or 30nm... You will need to get that in a vice with the correct tool to do that.

These filter housings are a git, you need to tighten them up so much it makes you feel a bit edgy. Has mine spew diesel out when ignition on before so i understand where your coming from.

Ok, new filter and seal, all seems well, fingers crossed! Even bought a new filter wrench so I could torque it right! Cheers for the advice guys.
