    Default My £184.49 shipping splurge

I recently bought and refurbished a set of 4 Astra 6 spoke VXR Snowflakes. I also have a set of 4 Astra Penta alloys for my car.

My wife being the carefull sole managed to kerb one of the snowflakes the ohterday and my wheels are all off at present waiting on a refurb for the summer.

It occured to me that I have no decent spares of these wheels meanign I need to use a tiny space saver if a wheel needs repairing or if i get a puncture. A proper pain to have happen especiaily as we both do arround 70 miles a day in our cars...

So after some carefull ebaying I have pacured the following...

A bare 6 spoke Astra VXR Wheel in need of a refurb
An astra penta alloy with a scrap tyre
2 part worn tyres from a trusted seller I know on ebay.

And the total of this.... £184.49 with a single wheel repair and refub to happen at a cost of £30.

£214.49 all in... Was this a good deal...?

Well here the alloys are anyway....

Here is the damage apart for the surface scrapes which could be easily hammered out but I will get a profesional repair done instead. No cracks on it anyware!

and here is the penta alloy

Both wheels cost £121.50 inc P+P

Tyres both have 5.5 mm accross the tyre. They are a bridgetone and a Mitchelin in 235/40/18. No damage, punctures etc.

Total cost of tyres £62.99 inc P+P

Has it been a good deal.... I think so

Quite a big chunk out of the snowflake! That's worthy of a buckle. Does it run true?

Great idea to have a spare wheel, but that's looks pretty sorely damaged. Is it definitely repairable?

The wheel does run true... Just this one dent / bash / chunk on it.

The company I use has several cool bits of kit including a machine that can take buckeld wheels and straigten them etc... That said I showed my contact the wheel and he said it's dead easy to repair and is not buckeled or cracked anywhere. just a good solid dent!

The damage in the picure looks afr worse than what it is. I could probably knock it out with a hammer myself but figure a quick refurb would be better... Its to be a spare anyway and liuve it's life in a boot all the time hopefully apart for a few days while the other snowflake is away getting sorted again.

Ive been quoted 200 for 5 pentas all being anthrasite (spelling) powder coated inuding filling in scrapes / chunks / balancing and fitting of my new tyres... which is not to bad IMO.

Im planning on keeping the old scrap tyres to make a nice garden feature....
