I Just had the most fun I ever have had in a Vauxhall - O.K. Admittedly its not Totally a Vauxhall, its an Aussie car with an American engine and British Badges on it....its a Bit of a Beast.
Its Naughty - especially on days like this, the 6.0 V8 is responsive and very powerful (403Ps - what 400BHP?), the Torque produced is amazing, it Just goes and goes and goes and it sounds absolutely Great.
I did take the VXR version from a Vauxhall dealership in London (of all Places but it was the nearest one to me) out for a Run, and I did manage to stretch its legs a good few times - for £24 Grand i Was soooo tempted to hand over the keys for the vec and off I go. Straight Dry Road (thankfully), Traction control on, 40MPH, Second Gear, Foot Down and I discovered the Joy of RWD Cars, Sideways in a Straight line! The Handling is Absolutely Perfect - Point and it Will go, poke and it will do it sideways, Steering is nice and Heavy, not too electronic, nice tight gearchanges, and the Traction control - I think its more of a case that its just there as another button to press that doesnt really do much, the car can go sideways with it ON.
I did read the best description of the Monaro Earlier today -
Interior is Really good - 4 Nice seats, Lashings of Leather and you can fit to Big Blokes in the Back quite comfortably, plenty of legroom and sideways room, Nice all Round Vision, Dual Zone Climate Control. It's a flawed diamond: big, crude and capable of single-handedly draining oilfields at a sitting.
The Thing that I find a Nice touch, is the Speedo can do KM/H and MP/H at the press of a Button - I think this would be a useful thing driving on the continent, and more recently in the Republic of Ireland. Nice Big Dials - also has a Digital Speedo Beneath the Dials....
For £24,995, would I trade in the Vectra? Unfortunately Yes. It's an amazing car - and I WANT ONE
