Default Tablet as head unit? Easy..

So i had my 7" tablet that i did not use much at all, and this relatively useless Opel CDR 2005 radio. (When i say useless i mean non mp3) and i was just so tired of making CDs every minute when having the car less than a month.

So i figured i need to do something about my entertainment system :P

Now ive done some digging around and came across this tutorial on how to mod the CR2005 to get an aux cable in.
basically you have to solder the left, right and ground into 3 connections on the motherboard of the radio to get a line-in. Heres a tutorial for that:
    http://www.css-haupt.de/vectra/english.html

Then i ran a usb cable under the center console and behind the dash up to where the tablet would be sitting and hooked it up, done some modifying to get the cables to fit in and i got to this stage:

Now i tried modifying the button console from the old radio to get the sides in so that the tablet doesn't look so "out-of-place" but without a rotary tool i just messed it up

So i'm stuck like this right now and I need something to somehow blank out that space between the tablet and the dash..

    Anyone got any ideas?

Also i got to paint the front grille and i reckon it looks MAD

Should be able to modify the front panel from a double din fitting kit easily enough

    http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/inst...uxhall-vectra/

Here's what they look like with a standard double din in them.

This is what I have mate

The plate needs trimming, then just needs some felt on the back. My plan is to hinge the bottom and the top will have a push lock similar to how the astray lid locks. I'll then be able to slot the Tab in and out as I wish.

My Tab has both mini USB & phono sockets but as a bonus it has pogo pins that do everything so by moding a proper dock it should work perfectly. I've already converted my stock 2005 HU to have an aux in, next would be to take off the front panel and slide the HU back to make room for the Nexus. This is the sort of effect im looking for.

Have you managed to get hold of a docking station yet?. I keep looking on the Asus shop but never in stock@£24.99.

Wrap the tablet and make a fibre glass mold, like you would a sub box using fleece etc, perfect fit and paint... That's similar to how I did my TV in my Astra dash...

No mate, I keep going into PC world (yes I know LOL) and as usual there all numb nuts, one said the UK wont get them till the Nexus 10 is out and another said never. Its worse than Sony and there release dates. US import is looking like the only option at the moment.
