    Default autobox query

Ive only had my 1.9cdti sri 150 for about 6 weeks. Had a mas remap done including egr and dpf removal. Ive been experiencing the following and justbwondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms and if its normal or could do with a fluid change. Car has done 88k and as far as I can see has never haf a fluid change.

When cold, the gearbox seems a little reluctant to change up. I understand itmight hold the gear a little longer to aid warming up but sometimes it feels like I need to chamge it manually.

When putting foot to floor from standstill, engine warmed up, there is a 2 second delay before the car takes off.

Finally, sometimes the kickdown is a bit hesitant.

Any advice please before I go down the route of a fluid change.

Fluid change is the cheapest you can do right now. If that doesn't cure it (and I don't think it will) you'll have to take it to a specialist. My bet is on the valve body.

Regarding the delay from standstill - my autobox drops into N after about 10 seconds of not moving - when you go to move off there is a delay (seems like ages but only a second or so) while it reengages Drive - you quickly learn to anticipate lights etc and edge forward before they change meaning you eliminate the delay. Dropping into N is a design feature aimed at helping with emissions etc.

Mine does this too. The delay I get is different. Pull away normally and its fine, no delay except the one you describe. But, floor it from stsndstill and it takes a couple of seconds to realise what youve asked it to do and then it does it. Had it in my last car, an mgzt cdti auto and it was rectified by a new maf. Was thinking it wss possibly low or old fluid in the vectra that was causing it.

Car is Feb 08 on 57 plate. Its done 88k miles. Only bought it in December and no record of previous fluid change.

Ive read conflicting views on here. Some saying change it every 4 yrs or 40k miles. Other saying dont touch it unless youre sure theres a problem.

Hence my original post, trying to gauge if they are common problems and if anyone has had similar probs and did a fluid change/topup cure it.

Don't touch the oil if the gearbox is working ok ! That's the advice given me by 4 different Vx dealerships over 6 years of running a 2.5 VecB auto and a 3.2 VecC auto. (Both cars over 90k when the advice was given, and the VecB was sold on for the VecC, not sold on because of problems, sold on as running perfectly)

But thats just it mate, im not sure if mine is working normally or not. Lol.

Dont know if the slughish kickdown, hesitancy and holding gear when cold are.normal.for this gear box.

Well mate, I wouldn't be trying to floor any car, auto or otherwise, until it had at least started to warm up.

If you read my original post you will see that I stated that it holds gears when cold. But the hesitancy when flooring it is with it fully warmed up. Im quite aware of the dangers of flooring it when its cold.
