Default Removing cigarette lighter and light

I'm in the middel of converting the LEDs to blue and got a new lighter socket with a blue illumination ring off ebay. But how do I get the old socket and ring out?

It must be possible, I doubt the panel was manufactured with the yellow ring on it.

I wrecked mine as well and was expecting too which is why I bought a new lighter socket with blue ring HERE and changed the led that shines in the ash tray while I was at it. Believe me, you will mess about for hours and in the end break it anyway but it's up to you if you want to keep at it.

I got the exactly same as you. I don't care for the old one, as I don't expect to do anything but toss it away, but if you can't get the old one out, how do you get the new one in?

edit: already changed the ashtray to blue (however it might be a little too bright)

You need to take it apart, take the silver end out off the blue cover. There are little tabs at the side and then it slides out, just be careful you don’t snap them and then put the blue part in at an angle but you need to have the tabs perfectly aligned before pushing the silver piece in or it will not go all the way in. I put a dot on the blue part and a dot on the silver part with a cd pen and lined them up and pushed it home then clean the dot of with isopropyl alcohol and lastly push in the bulb after you have it wired up.

.....and to get the old one out, just get a pair of needle nose pliers and bend in the silver piece, twist about and pull, you might need to bend a few times but it will come out eventually.

I'm not sure if I used my old one mate as I don't use it so can't remember so I would need to check.
