I've just managed to change my head unit and all works even steering wheel controls but when key is removed from ignition there is 3 audible beeps through the speakers!? anyone know if this is just because satnav is no longer connected or have I made a boo boo somehwere

Nice choice of head unit, I have the same one in my Transit.

And all Sony head units do the three beeps to remind you to take the face off before leaving the car...

Yup it's a security feature. I believe on some headunits you can turn the beep off but don't quote me on that one.

all sony head units i have had did the 3 beeps

in the menu you can select "beep on/off" but that just turns off the beeps when you press buttons. it still does the 3 beeps when you remove key. at least on the ones i have had that is the case
