    Default y30dt won't start....

    All thoughts gratefully received....
Head gasket went on christmas eve, and on strip down discovered 2 pistons damaged on the crowns, no bore damage so replaced. Turns over fine on the starter and by hand. BUT will not start, getting fuel through to the injectors. All fault codes cleared and no new ones on trying to start up.
My only thought is, is it possible to set the cam timing 180 degrees out, all timing marks lined up as they should on the cam pulleys and the fuel pump, but no marks on the crank pulley to check, any thoughts anybody???

Does it run on a start spray?
If the top of the cylinder bore/crown was damaged it is very likely that it bent the block as it's all of aluminium. Random ideas here, not a mechanic

When mine wouldn't start and I had to get it going we squirted the spray into the air intake just behind the front grill, we didn't have to disassemble anything. Make sure that under NO CIRCUMSTANCE you wait for the glowplug light to go off...if you do you will hear a scary bang...
Spray directly into the intake and then turn the key to start the engine without waiting for glowplugs. Although this is not exactly advisable to use it all the time, it's fine to use it once or twice.

Mine recently went in for a cambelt change (and water pump leak) and the mechanic said the gears connecting the crankshaft and fuel pump can only go in if aligned (cambelt has to be aligned). I'm positive your cambelt is aligned properly, if it weren't I'm sure you'd hear some valves scraping the cylinders lol

Also, once you have drained the fuel system it can take a long time for the fuel to reach the injectors and re-prime the system
This is quite obvious when you replace the fuel filter
Equally, the same happens when you just loosen the cap!

Thanks for that, unfortunately cranking the car over has flattened the battery. So, now on charge will try again tonight. Snow willing....must admit, I am tired of wet and cold.....
Any thoughts on the use of "easy start", had a look on t'internet last night..... lots of conflicting opinions.
After one costly re-build this year, would hate another so soon. Was expecting the car to last at least two weeks before it chucks its toys out again....
