Default The Hamster Run - Top Gear Sunday 28th January

Just been flicking through my latest copy of Top Gear magazine which has a full report on Hammond's dragster crash from last year - with photos and stills grabbed from the video footage and what caused it etc. etc. He was a very lucky boy indeed!

It was just to say that, in case anyone wasn't aware, they're showing the video etc. on the first show of the new series of Top Gear - this Sunday.

Your right there Duncan, and I hope The Hamster is raring to go on Sunday as Ive booked the best seat on my settee for the show.

I really cant see this from stopping him from doing some of the daft things they get up to on the show....

i saw a few pics of the video footage.....apparently it was a blown rear right tyre that caused the crash - who knows if that is true or not.

but regardless, one of the best programmes on tv is back on our screens, and i for one can't wait!!!

Hes a biker at heart, a little thing like an accident won't put him off. We've all had a nasty crash at one point of another and we keep going.

Thank goodness he's ok and I wish him the best in the rest of his career.

It was the front offside tyre that suffered a blowout, causing the sudden veering off the track.

Yep, he's been driving since the accident. One thing that the doctors were worried about was that he might have flashbacks when he drove a car for the first time since the crash. Quite simply he didn't as the last thing he remembers seeing was "...an empty runway, the skinny front tyres of a jet-propelled dragster and a paramedic fast-response vehicle on standby." so no possibility of any flashbacks to the actual accident - unless they suddenly start to come back from his sub-consciousness in the future.

I still think there's a little white lie here, mainly I don't think he was going as fast as they say.

Still a lot of good things have come of it off of the back of the infectious midget, so I'll let it slide this time, I wonder what ppl would have said and done if it'd been Jimmy boy or heaven forbid the Jolly Curly Haired Giant?

Not sure why they would tell little white lies TBH VV.

The article in the mag has all the telemetry data from the run - speed, power and G-force.

He hit 288 peak when the tyre blew, and after the car slewing around it hits the grass at the edge of the runway at 268mph, digs into the grass and flips over sideways landing again at 232mph with his helmet impacting into the grass. The quality of the helmet is what saved his life.

All I can say is watch the video footage on Sunday. That'll show the speeds they were doing.

Hell of a publicity stunt to go through at the chance of selling a few more £9.99 books though.

Risk life for a book mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Nah I don't think so.
