What a rip off

Was in a well known tyre exhaust mot service place ttoday having two new tyres fitted to my snow flakes
took them an hr as busy and trouble inflating them
was an old chap had a 60 plate astra was in for oil change and mini service
came bk in to room to tell him his pads low on front
Ok he said Change them mechanic said but will need to do discs as well as rusty then told him £319 to supply and fit them
how much I thought he had them fitted
even when the van turned up with parts never heard off the make
glad I do all my own stuff was a mechanic yrs ago

still do lots on days off. And hate people getting ripped off

That's unreal! I got quoted £150 to supply and fit front discs and pads and I thought that was steep!

Did mine myself in the end £51.50 for a mintex disc and pad set and some beers for my mate lol

It's awful how garages rip people off! They always seem to do it to people who they know don't know any better!

It's that exact reason that stops me having any work done until I've checked it myself or had someone else check it! I think a lot of garages just make stuff up for easy money! Mainly brakes and exhausts in my experience!

sometimes I question the mark up of parts In my work.

But my god they must be making 300% profit at those prices lol

I worked for a family run garage yrs ago never ripped any one off
we even repaired parts rather than replace the whole item
when they retired I worked for a similar big garage
And was shocked at what was happening to rip people off
swopping pads over to worn ones oil on the shocks
i left after a month this still goes on today as mate I know
works for same retailer

Luckily there are many honest garages out there but you have to find them first and it also helps to be at least a little clued up in car repairs and servicing, but like some of you guys here I do all my work and if a job is too big for me then at least i have a good idea of parts and labour costs plus I know an honest helpful friendly place i can rely on.

my money is it was kwik fit, scamming bar stewards, wouldnt trust them with a push bike

taffy,my mate's wife had the same problem with the company above--told she needed 2 tyre's and her disc's and pads were in a critical condition,she asked for the manager and she told him that the discs and pads had been changed just 2 months previous-the manager did not know what to say to her except to say sorry after he looked at the disc's etc.Its their favorite rip off scam to meet their monthly targets,they will never get any business off me,apaulling company--i prefer independants,you get a better service-at least i do up here.---Dave

I found a good place for tyres, that's all he does, and balances the wheels better than anyone else I have used before. In my experience, places that specialize in everything are not what they seem.
