Thanks Beardy, was good to meet you too and turn a username into a real person.
Just finished the springs change - not a job to even consider without compressors, so thanks for the lend of yours (I shall return them shortly). Took it steadily and all done in about 3 hours for the pair. The only real pain was the strut cap nut - you really need a socket with external flats so you can turn it while holding the piston through the centre with a torx driver.
Yes, the OSF spring was snapped and looks to have been so for quite a while - just as the GSi is the lowered sports chassis anyway, you don't notice unless a spring breaks mid-coil.
Anywho, just giz a yell when you plan on doing yours and I'll be there to lend a hand.
Met a few members from here. Always good to put names to faces
I always encounter a few 'members' when out in the pubs,.. =o/
Well the GSi has now passed the MoT for another year and the new front springs I fitted mean it still corners like a dream.
A huge mention must be made to @Beardy in thanks for the loan of his spring compressors, without a set of which this is not a job anyone should consider tackling. Although unable to lend a hand on the day, it does make quite a difference to know there are members such as @Beardy willing to talk through an impending job, offer an informed opinion and perhaps see things from a slightly different perspective.
