HI, I have a yellow oil can that keeps coming up on my dash, after I have been driving a while. I've just checked the oil and its full. I know its due an oil change. Could that be it. Theres no numbers or anything showing, just the yellow oil can.

When was the oil changed? I used to have this issue on my Vec B... oil levels would be fine but would get a 'check oil' warning on the computer as the oil had degraded!!! See how you get on after an oil change/service.
Well I got the Vectra April 11 and its the same oil, apart from a top up last year
Its due its MOT, and needs new filters I would imagine
ideally you need to have an oil change at least once a year or 20000 miles however its recommended you have one every 6 months or 10000 for optimum performance.
Right. Would be nice if I could afford every 6 months lol. Any idea what a ball park figure is for an oil change these days
Do it yourself... its pretty straight forward... drain the oil, change the filters, put in new oil.
I think there is a "how to" for it
However vauxhall charge 149 as part of their fixed price (interim) servicing.
Other places are Halford Service Centres or your trusted local garage!!!
I dont have access to ramps or a pit. Its due MOT and service anyway. The guy that sorted my cam shaft sensor last time when another garage messed me about it going to do the full service and MOT at once.
After I described the problem, he's happy its just the service light. As long as it stays yellow and doesnt change to red, it should be fine.
Probably, makes sense as it slowly gathers crap so replacing it takes all the grime that damages the engine in the long term. It doesn't need it that regular but I've had mine from 6 months old and by giving the regular changes along with fairly regular services it runs like new.... 7 years old and 85 000 miles on the clock.
Spook68..... You don't need ramps etc, use of some axel stands, gloves, bowl and a replacement sump plug seal and your good to go. Add on the oil and you can do it for a fraction of the price. Oil filters can b picked up for less than a tenner and are easy to replace, look to a how to on the net or the forums.
