Question 1.8 VVT Oil Level Sensor & Oil change

    Hi there,

Well my Oil level sensor needs changing so was wondering what I would need to do this job, I'm going to change Oil and Filter at same time.

    Here's what I'm thinking:

    Oil level sensor
    Oil Filter
    Oil
    Sump Plug gasket
    Sump gasket??-Do I need a sump gasket?

And Is this a particularly easy job or would I be best taking the bits up to the local garage?

    Thanks in advance.

I did not realise there was an oil level sensor on the 1.8VVT, I assumed that it was simply an oil pressure switch.

Where is the sensor situated in the engine?

Been onto GSF website and they only list an Oil Pressure Switch, which should be accessible from outside the engine as it will be screwed into the engine block.

I take it you are getting a low oil level warning light or meassage? And have checked the oil level in the car??

I would recommend a new sump gasket if you are taking the sump off.

Yeah once the engine gets up to temp the light comes on. I have checked the oil when car was warm and left for 5mins and its at normal level. I've even slightly overfilled for a short period with the same problem.
I can only assume its a faulty sensor now.

I'm having the same problem with my 1.8 VVT. Mind you, mine is well overdue an oil change

Does the light go off again when the engine is revved??

Just trying to make sure that it isnt a faulty oil pressure switch or low oil pressure.
