    Default Mpg 1.8 VVT Estate

    Hi Guys and girls,

I'm new to the forum, forgive me if this has been discussed before.

I am getting a steady 29 mpg average no matter what i do and how quick i drive it does not change, before i start changing everything to see if it helps is there a common thing i can do eg: spark plugs, cleaning sensors? thanks in advance

    Simon

Hello Simon, i have a 1.8vvt and i get better mpg than that,on a run i get 40plus and about 33 round the doors,When was it last serviced.if your not sure i would get it done, good oil and all the filters--easy job.Change the plugs and just give the car a good going over,i'm always on with mine-keeping it in good nick--and try and use genuine parts, hope this helps Dave--

Also check for brakes binding, jack each corner up and check the wheels move freely.

I have the 1.8VVT saloon and easily get over 35 mpg

Sorry to jump on this, i agree with the above but have u tried resetting the mpg counter 1st and starting from zero as i had same prob when i got my vectra it never changed and it wasn't till i did this that anything changed.. Once you have selected mpg on trip just hold down left directional changer on steering wheel then away you go and see if this solves your problem before throwing money at service items.
