Default Question: Wire and switch covered in foil next to oil cooler! What is it?

Hi im changing the oil cooler on my veccy z18xer and noticed a wire covered in like foil or summat going into the engine block next to the oil cooler. Does anyone know what it is? its covered in oil like it could possibly be leaking from it.

that's what i thought it was, looked on ebay they only 5 quid to replace just wondering what's the need for the foil? Protection against leaks from above maybe?

As it’s stripped down makes sense to replace it as it’s easier to get to, the foil gives it protection from heat

you can but basically it can be cleaned just use some brake cleaner spray it liberally and check how nice and clean it shows up ( i don't like wasting money if it still works than just clean it)
