    Default Oil pump change..

Starting to think more & more now that my oil pump may be knackered.

Ticking engine, slightly noisy turbo & also had the oil light come on the other day but the dipstick is showing full.

I need to get the oil pressure checked to be sure though.

I'd pencilled it in to have its cambelt and water pump done in a couple of weeks anyway as its just hit 81k.

Is it going to cost me much more to have the oil pump done at the same time, and/or is it a job I could do myself?

I can either get a tested known good part for £45, or I'll try and find out how much they are new.

    Cheers

    Default

Cambelt would have to come off to do the oil pump, so would be worth doing at the same time.

Definately worth testing the pressure first though

    Cheers.

I've spoken to my local mechanic & he hasn't got an analogue gauge but he said in the past he's had cars come in with these symptoms & its been that the oil filter has collapsed?

My 'INSP' light came on a week or so ago so it's due a service.. i'll try this to rule it out.

IMO only fit a new part not worth risk of fitting second hand due to damage that could occur

the sub gram needs dropping slightly to allow sump to be removed so allow couple of hours extra labour
