Wing mirror indicator update

Howdy doody people, just thought I'd do a quick update on my wing mirror indicator mods. Finally got round to fitting the covers back onto the mirror body. Took quite a bit of grinding on the far edge of the mirror body to allow enough clearance for the cover to fit back on with the led strip stuck inside it, but hey ho, thats why God invented the Dremel lol. Put em back on the car and hoping to get the indicators and puddle lights wired in tomorrow. But they're on so thats a start.

The other thing I set out to do was fit my HID's. Stripped it all down, did all the mods to get the filament to fit in the housing, wired it all up, and ****** all happened. Took the canbus cancellor off the passenger side and it came on. Switched them back off, did the same to the drivers side, switched back on to test the 2 together, and ****** all. Checked the filaments, and they'd both blown!!!!! Any suggestions guys??

So while I had the bumper off, not to waste the afternoon fully, I fitted my DRLs. Happy with the result. Going to tap into the cigarette lighter circuit and a relay to power them tomorrow.

I thought about doing this with lights under the mirrors like VW when unlock car the also come on as puddle lights and then using signum inner tailgate light as a door open marker and pudle light

Check my thread for the wing mirrors, I've put puddle lights under them. If I can be arsed, I'll rig up a 12v supply in a bit, seeing as its dark and post some pics

Your question on the HID bulbs, which filament are you on about? There is no filament in the glass capsule, there is a wire that goes up the oustside of the bulb.

In the middle of the glass tube, theres a dark brown spot on the glass that looks like something has burnt

Maybe the bulbs are faulty??

They work via an electric arc through the gas.

So, they will only "burn" if there is a leak of gas to be replaced by air.
