Default Vectra C Estate revving/stalling itself

    Hello all

    www.youtube.com/watch?v=k78LB4TRbSg

Any ideas on what it could be? Mum kept saying it "kept losing power" but she's only just managed to replicate it for me in my presence. She says it can do it whilst driving along, it feels like it loses power and sometimes stalls. My limited knowledge things its either turbo related or air sensor?

Its just had a service whereby the fuel filter was changed along with the usual culprits. It was doing it before the service too so nothing has been upset.
    Cheers

Is there a free basic piece of software like VCDS-lite for VW/Audi.

If not I'll see if the local garage I use can do it for a small fee

Hi mate, have u managed to fix this problem? Seems like sensor that tells ECU inlet butterfly valve position. (valve it self is controlled by vacuum and ECU). Mine did same but it has gone for now but im considering to replace that sensor or it may be something else!?!?

Well managed to find the culprit

But why is this doing it? Some sensor or vacuum issue?

    Error code p0638 stored

    Cheers

Throttle position sensor issue I believe. On the opposite side of the inlet where you pulled that vac pipe from, you'll see a couple of sensors. One will be the boost sensor (held in with one bolt, the one on the right) and the other is the TPS sensor. More than likely the TPS sensor at fault. Not sure how easy they are to come by so might be worth contacting someone like @VA Automotive on here to see if they have a new throttle body for a DTi that has the holes drilled for both the TPS sensor and the boost sensor. You might be able to get away with driving it just with that vac pipe left off for now but don't quote me on that!

Hi. It is deffo the TPS sensor, they are very common on DTi models. You can just disconnect and isolate that vacuum pipe or
you could simply use a cable tie to stop the flap from moving, works fine I have done it before. Both of the methods will not get rid of the error
but will not make any difference to the way car drives.
I have marked TPS sensor on the picture.
I dont have any in sold straight away.

Also there is ECU update available that has no TPS programmed, but I think it is way to complicated unless @cont1204 can sort you out.

Cheers how much are they in stock? Is there a part number to look out for etc.?

Dad wants rid of the car now but i'm determined to work it out as the garage has ****ed around with it so much and gotten nowhere (clueless? I know **** all about cars, I work with computers and any basic knowledge I know is on my Golf mk4 engine) - I take 5 minutes to look at the car, poke the actuator a bit get it to replicate the fault. 5 mins of driving and it does it on its own. If its just a sensor then excellent. They wanted to changed the whole throttle body manifold for £300+
