Default engine fails to turn over

i have a 2.0 dti y20dth engine and i went out this afternoon went to start it and all i got was 1 rotation and it stoped and now all i get is it clicking from under the turbo . i have checked the battery and its got full volts . and everything works like windows cd player and lights . does anyone know what it could be . i am thinking it could be starter motor but i would like to make sure first . as a starter if £150 plus surcharge of £132 on top ( £282) .

Try a jump start. Sounds like a knackered battery or alternator. The clicking is the starter solenoid engaging.

What does it drop to when cranking? Still sounds like a knackered battery if the lights are dimming with just attempted cranking. Should be anywhere between 9.5 or so and 11 when cranking. 9 or below and the battery has had it.

Try a jump start with the other car running this will rule the battery out if you get the same symptoms. The next step would be the starter motor imo.

does sound like you have a flat battery

but try measure volt to starter motor while someone tries cranking.

Battery or starter motor. A jump-start will confirm

IT IS the battery. The lights get dim because the starter system is drawing the electricity it has left. The clicking is relays and electrics kicking because it does'nt have enough juice. It is 110% needing a new battery at the least.
