Default Not trying to upset anyone but....

has anyone ever transplanted an auto box into a VXR?

I know Vx eventually offered it as an option and the box is the same as the 2.8 Elite/Design but wondered if its been done or maybe whats required?

Big job or just as much hassle as swapping out a knackered gearbox?

I can't imagine how difficult a job that would be mate - definitely stick to just swapping the box out for the same one...

From what I've read it seems to be easier to stick IDS suspension on an auto vec/signum 2.8T and make a VXR that way.

Dont think it would be worth the hassle. Would take less to convert an elite to vxr spec I would think. The number of VXR owners that have replaced their suspension with aftermarket stuff, makes me think its not that amazing. Plus most vxr's are only half leather which is easy enough to get second hand anyway.

I'm going through the process of VXRing the Signum now, just figured it would be easier to transplant the auto into one (us auto drivers are lazy sods!)

if you know where i can get half leather VXR front seats from i will be your bestest friend forever! Seems to me I'm more likely to find Lord Lucan in my shower than get the seats i want at the moment!

From what I've read, the VXR auto is actually quicker to 60 than the manual due to the faster change times of the gearbox. Not a massive diffidence I would imagine and not enough to take away the fun of the manual unless you need the auto aspect for whatever reason...

Just lazy is all. i love the auto box, early changes when you're pootling and redline action when you stamp on the peddle and no nonsense in traffic

As i said im still going through the process of upgrading my Signum so wont be long and it'll pretty much be a VXR anyway, just without the body kit

Well you just missed these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-V...-/121047602651?

Keep an eye on ebay. Honestly the half leather come up once a month if not more. Also look out for any vxr's being broken. You just have to be quick
