Default sony xav601bt double din head unit fitted - pics

double din fitting kit from dynamic sounds

    before

grabbed both removal keys like this to apply pressure outwards whilst pulling

    removing antenna

    antenna adaptor

removing pin to connect new pin/cable for antenna power

wisnae sure where all this cabling would go

    first boot

    firmware update on todo list

    removing cage

    fitted

    close ups

big difference in sound quality compared to cd30, i was originally going to buy speakers at the same time but decided to wait for better weather for fitting them, don't think i'll bother upgrading now, sounds great. fitting kit was on the expensive side at £90 ish but i used all the pieces, was originally wondering why they provide a cage as there is a cage with the radio however it became obvious when i tried to fit the sony cage and its a different size best price i could find for the radio was from halfords at £250 less cashback.

still to fit microphone. will also try to find a nice place for rear usb cable too, maybe try to get it routed to centre armrest area for connecting phone.

sorry if this going over old ground but maybe pics will help someone out, there's not much info in the instructions, had to search on here to find out how to fit the clamps on the side of radio

very nice! can you still use the trip computer from the steering wheel with an aftermarket stereo fitted? was it all plug and play? thought i had read about having to get an ignition live from the cig lighter or something?

I've got one of these fitted in my Transit and its a great bit of kit, Along with the Sony XA-NV200TL TomTom unit. The bluetooth works great and the opitional ipod lead works a treat.

For your info here's a link to the sat nav unit, But if your getting one shop about as i got one for £249.00

yes i can still get into trip computer, range, av speed, mpg etc. i can reset trip reading. i can also get into system settings to change clock, date language and ignition logic. the black box in the middle of wiring harness must be for canbus i guess as one of the power cables goes via there. impressive stuff. i did originally think i would lose the ability to change clock etc so well chuffed. note this is on my 58 sri. link here..

yes i used everything, added on the option for sony headunit which gives you a kind of jack plug which plugs into headunit for steering wheel remote vol up down change from radio to cd etc.

colours can be changed to anything, and i mean anything there are load of deafults, red amber white blue etc but also a user custom setting where you can adjust rgb levels to get the exact colour you want. a rainbow setting where it scrolls through lots of colours and a jungle setting, lol, which scrolls through green/yelllows.

as for looking oem, yes i think it is. there are two brackets in the kit, one which is tapered to suit the shape of gap left by cd30. and another which surrounds the headunit itself. both are matte grey, will take a picture in daylight sometime.

as promised a pic of the unit in the daylight, i guess the grey is more a match for the outer trim for glovebox, side panels etc rather than the fascia but i think it looks ok. i might move the locking sleeves at the side so that the radio sits flush with the centre surround.
