    Default A bit baffled,and nervous!

Hello fellas,I've got a Z18XER petrol engine in a 1.8 SRI,strange one this, started up car tonight to go to work and heard a muffled sound like a slightly blowy exhaust when reving engine, just got back home and noticed than when I pulled out dipstick to check oil it began running lumpy and a bit worse when I took off oil filler cap,car ran normal driving home,no noticeable loss of power, engine temp ok,no dash warnings and the water in reservoir looks clean (in case of CHG failure),I hope its just a loose hose or something as funds are at an all time low,any help with troubleshooting this much appreciated, cheers

Totally normal on the Z18XER engine, something to do with negative presure or something in the crank case. Mine does it, dont know the exact science behind it but defiently normal on this engine.

Cheers for letting us know Stephen! well thats half the symptoms cured, had a good look see again couple of hours ago and still making a blowing noise in engine bay, its not loud but def was not there couple of days ago and engine not running as smooth sometimes sounds like a "quite" diesel if that makes sense, its basically when you give her some revs you hear the blowing but no indication somethings wrong when driving as normal.

You can always get a cracked mani welded, cast or not . Just get whoever is welding to drill holes in each end of the crack to stop it spreading
