It's still a ratio of height to weight and therefore COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY USELESS BEYOND ALL BELIEF for anyone with even a little bit of extra muscle mass.

    I hate the BMI, it's complete ********.

Unfortunately it is what the NHS use to assess you for Obesity. I am 6ft 3 in tall about 18.5 stone and considered to be morbidly obese, apart from a bit extra around the tummy area I am pretty trim. To get to my ideal waut of about 14.5 stones, you would have to chop a leg off.

BMI is the most useless thing I have ever seen. I know guys at work that are ultra fit, and no where near over weight, yet according to BMI are Obese.

Same here, 6ft tall 15 stone and was told by an oversize beachball that I was obese. You can guess my reply to that one.

The nurse at our local doctors surgery told me I was overweight during our initial exam when we registered with the new doctors (I'm 5'8" and 12 stone 12).

She wasn't massively impressed when I told her to get her own house in order before she started criticising mine. She was easily a size 20 and about 5'2". I actually made a complaint in the end because her whole attitude stunk.

it is unforunate for nurses, they start off a thin young girls, as soon as they qualify to be a nurse, they are given a diet of lard!

It is as bad as a Dr telling you to stop smoking, when they smoke themselves.

    Some thought provoking questions?

Clothes manufacturers, why do you make womens leggings over a size 16 and tracksuits in anything over XXL??

Why is it really fat people who generally spend their whole life wearing trainers??

Please note, I am not fatist, just wish people would dress appropriately to their age, size and shape!

Yay I'm now at the far end of the scale for overweight and not obese!
    Not bad for 5 10 15stone with a 32" waist and 48" chest
I get this rubbish everytime I go for a medical. It takes nothing into account about muscle mass. Its old outdated and not relevant but my offshore medical declares I'm obese because of BMI. I turn up and they look at me and say "Oh we were expecting an elephant not you"

Clothes manufacturers, why do you make womens leggings over a size 16 and tracksuits in anything over XXL?? Because jeans in the same size would weigh about 30KG!!

Why is it really fat people who generally spend their whole life wearing trainers?? Because their feet can squelch over the soft sides

Do you ever watch Superskinny vs Supersize? I look at these fat people on their crying that they have been given a few years to live. They then show these Yanks going to a cafe and stuffing their faces before saying to the UK person "I dont want you to suffer like I have to suffer"

Well chunky get up off your fat behind stop stuffing your face lose some weight and half of your medical problems would subside you would be less of a burden to society you might be able to see your own ***** or wipe your own backside and play with your kids. Is that just too simple? However did hear on the news yesterday UK has more obese people than anywhere else in the world. Our soloution? Tax the foods that cause it an extra 20% hmmm how about educating kids in school about what to eat, reducing the costs of "healthy" foods and encourage healthy eating instead of trying to make money from it.
