Default Wipers popped off the push rod

Total Nightmare tonight on the M77 about 15 miles from home the wiper popped off the main push rod and left me in hurricane force rain to get home!

Is there a short term fix for this problem I can't seem to find any how2's as I will order a new pair of the rods in the morning!

Typical I am needing the car more than every this week!!!

However this really is my first major issue in 2 1/4 years so I can't say I am upset with the car

    Derek

In the HOW2 for fitting a new linkage, there is a picture showing a temp repair using some cable ties.

    EDIT - This one

You dont even need to take the wipers off.
You can get in under the scuttle, after removing the rubber strip.
One of mine went last year, fixed with 2 cable ties and the other one went last month, again, fixed with cable ties.
Its usually the underneath cup which wears out due to gravity.
You can even buy speacial clips to repair this badly designed linkage.
Some folk on here have used cable ties and they are still holding years down the line !
Good luck with it. Five minute fix max !

Cable ties wouldnt work on mine, both sides went at once so when I cable tied one side, it pulled the other off & vice versa

I tried the cable tie quick fix and at 70mph they decided to let go and I had wipers bouncing all over the place. I bought the new rods off eBay and they've been fine (touches wood)

I went to Wipex ltd., cost me £35.40 delivered for new push rods, I finally twigged how to remove the scuttle so was able to get the old rods off and replacements snapped into place greased the cups before snapping them home, re-assembled job done. 30 minutes tops and they were perfect.

No more slapping into the a post
