    Default sri 1.8 or 2.2?

    Hi going to have a look at the above models this week both are facelift models 07 plates just wondering if you give me some advice on wat to look out for and wat model you would recomened .. Thanks

    The main worry with the 2.2 is now the introduction of E10 petrol. The increase in ethanol to 10% in petrol makes the 2.2 direct a complete non starter as the ethanol eats the injector seals.
    1.8 is very reliable, just look out for a slight rattle on start up, even then its only the cam solenoid and not expensive to replace.

    after the trouble i have had with the 2.2 i wouldnt go near another one again, 1.8 every time, no need to worry about a duel mass flywheel either then

    Just need to use 99 RON premium unleaded (V Power or Ultimate etc), which is what the 2.2 was designed to use, the extra few pence per litre are paid back in MPG. I love my 2.2 and haven't had any problems with it.

    Still each to their own, best to test drive the two and take it from there.

    I have a 1.8 SRi 2004, i love it drove a few 2.2's aswell i find the 1.8 quite pokie, been very reliable just needing a battery cheaper tax and i find it fare to run as in petrol costs and thats after swapping back from my sxi dti diesel astra!
