Problem with 1.8 VVT and jerky pulling away

Hey there,
I'm new to this forum, hi to everyone
2 weeks ago I purchased my vectra C 06 plate,
41000 miles on the clock, full service and excellent motor!
Anyways, after driving it for 2 weeks I have realised that sometimes I get some clutch judder, usually when it's cold and usually until I've used the car for a while.
i have read up on this and I have seen that apparently vauxhall did know about this problem and have come up with a new clutch and flywheel or something,
Now I'm a mechanic myself but if I could get this done by vauxhall that would be great but I don't want to get robbed.
What I wanted to know was is this a recall issue or did they just put a mod out to be done while the vehicles were In warrenty?

I had the same problem and lived with it for quite a while.

My coilpack then failed. Once i replaced this i noticed that pulling away was a dream and no more judder .

The coilpack was second hand and cost me 60 quid all in.

Vx knew about the problem across the 1.8 range. They were replacing the complete clutch assembly as long as the car was still covered by warranty and had less than 18000 on the clock. I tried to get mine changed but the stealers warned me if the fault was "driver error" I would have to pay.
I had a complete clutch assembly fitted by a reputable garage in Leeds,engine and gearbox mountings checked. Cost £375 and it didn't make a bit of difference. Still got the judder, worse when reversing uphill. Think your going to have to live with it.

I've not had any problems with my 1.8 VVT SRI in the last 2 years, though it's a Dec 2008 with only 14k miles, so as one of the last Veccy's, may have a modified clutch?

Seem to remember that VX were supplied with a batch of faulty clutch plates which were fitted to all 1.8's accross the range. Thats why they were replacing them unless they could blame the driver. It wasn't a recall, you just had to try your luck with a stealer. Mine is an 06 plate sri. The judder is more of a niggle than a problem.

But you have had a complete clutch assembly fitted and it is still doing it?? Then it cannot be the alleged faulty part that Vauxhall fitted??

Mine is ok. 2008 Vectra 1.8 SRi.

I test drove a 2006 Vectra Design though and that did it pretty bad.

Had the clutch replaced because that seemed to be the cause of the judder. Now whether the flywheel was scoured,I dont know. I didn't have it replaced, possibly this may cause the judder. As I said that was 4 years ago, 30,000 miles later it's just the same,no better,no worse. Some people say in old posts that a replacement cured their problem. No doubt there are lots of people who had the clutch replaced and it's still the same. If you look at old threads you will see that VX admitted that the clutch friction material was faulty,not just on Vectras but accross the entire 1.8 range.
