    Default Wing mirror dissasembly?

Can the arms be removed and the colour coded parts so only the base is left?

In a word yes , if you remove the glass you will see 4 tabs at the back of the cover compress these and the cover will pop out .
For the small section between the mirror body and the door its probably best to remove the whole assembly.
The mirror body is held by three screws the third is only accesible after the door card is removed .

So once all that's done it should look like someone's ripped it off and there's just the plate there? Good stuff

just done it on the father in laws sri, no need to take door card off if you have a torx allen key, we had a black one from the sri we are breaking, so he swapped all the silver bits onto that then i changed the mirror onto the car for him.

if you pull the little triangle tweeter trim off, that gives you access to the top and bottom torx screw, then the 3rd you pull off a little plastic gromit.

but my father in law had all the coloured bits swapped over before i even got there, without taking the mirror off the car, so it is do-able

My door mirror is loose on the door mount. When I fold the door mirror in there is a lot of play. Is it just a case of what you just said, and remove the tweeter door trim and tighten the torx bolts?

yep, three bolts holding the mirror in place, if it was like mine when i got our sri, someone has replaced the mirror at some point, and didnt bother putting the awkward bottom bolt back in
