I've been thinking about buying a 2.0t to replace my 2.2 dti however sentimental value has set in and though I would like to get a newer more powerful vec I just can't bring myself to part with the old girl. She's had her fair share of common vec issues probably all them and a few extras but she still looks good, drives good and gets a few good comments. Two things though are putting me off a newer turbo
    1) the lack of toys they seem to have after vaux cut costs
    2) the extra fuel consumption.

The one I'm interested in has 86000 and fsh on a 06 plate
whats your thoughts on the mileage, my concern is the turbo needing done sooner rather than later or am I jumping the gun assuming this would need doing, shortly.

I did consider a 150 cdti but they all seem a thousand or so dearer than the petrol, is this just the case? If so that money saved would cover the extra cost of fuel, for a while anyway.

Fuel prices up here are extortionate, so they have to be taken into consideration very seriously.

    Whats your thoughts.

My last Signum was a 2.2DTI design which I traded it in for a 3.2i v6 elite signum. It was hard to let the old girl go but I have never looked back since.
It takes the pain away when you upgrade as I have.

If you like the car and it's runninng well then why bother, just save your pennies until you can afford exactly what you want or at least something a good deal better that what you have now.

Better the devil you know. At least you know everything you have changed/repaired on your current car.

Yeah I hear what your saying, it was just the age really and more power, although I have my bikes for power. So it's probably more about the age as I think about it. Mortgage and a wee un means affording exactly what I want won't be possible for a long time, but this one seems well priced and comes with a warranty. But after what your saying I think yeah I'll just keep mine.
    oh I don't know.

I've had 2.0 turbo mate and its a cracking engine but not particularly good on petrol considering its fairly mild performance.the car you describe sounds like the one that someone posted for sale at place in Kilmarnock for about 2.5k, a lot of car for the money IMOIMO

That's what I always say, and it rings true. It would help if the wife just said NO but she's happy enough for me to go for this one.

The 2.0T's a pretty common and tbh I would wait for a lower mileage one. The engines a pretty bullet proof, but id still prefer a lower mileage example.

That's the one I was considering, but now I'm leaning to just keep the old girl. The fuel issue is my main concern.
