i would start with a good clean out of the throttle body and its connecting pipes... use some carb/clutch cleaner spray

Dead easy mate, just remove air cleaner and spray some carb cleaner into the body its self,no need to remove the body unless you want to remove the gasket and renew it.

as stated above..,, plus i tend to use and old tooth brush and scrub the inside out and wipe it out with decent non fraying rag... I also remove the breathee pipes and blow through them, if needed i push a paperclip through the blocked airways on the TB..

from the airbox follow the plastic pipework to the engine, this black plastic pipework attaches to the top of the throttle body (TB).. undo the jubilee clip that holds this on and lift it off and push it over to the side while you clean out the TB.. inside the TB you will see a brass coloured 'butterfly' valve that turns on its central pivot pin, you need to wipe this down (both sides by hand) and especially its edges that cause it to stick, it is spring loaded but will turn easily enough using your fingers.. Do not worry, you cannot break it unless you clean it with a hammer. By airways i refer to where the little rubber pipes attach to the TB, whilst the pipes are off push something thin through like a paperclip in case they are blocked with soot or similiar. Just do not drop things into the throttle body, you do not want to leave any foreign objects in there..

So no need to remove it, nice, want to do mine but don't fancy removing mine either. Is it ok to push the butterfly open to do both side?

Heres what it looks like Jow.
