Default EH??? Break in wire, rear window demister

I noticed my rear window wasn't demisting very well on the button. Closer look reveals a 2" break in the wire (almost like the wire has disappeared) and this is behind the window tint??.

Does that 1970's style paint on stuff to replace the wire work?. I guess I could run a scalpel to slice a section of the tint out so I could get to the glass?

Any ideas or is it new window time and a new tint?

Can get it cheaper online or from Maplins. Look for Silver Conductive paint.
